Anelise Chen is an American writer of fiction and nonfiction. She teaches creative writing at Columbia University. Her first novel, So Many Olympic Exertions, was published by Kaya Press in 2017. It was a VCU Cabell First Novelist Award Finalist. Her second book, Clam Down (One World), based on her brief stint as the Paris Review Daily's "mollusk correspondent," was published in June 2025. She is a National Book Foundation 5 under 35 Awardee. Her writing has appeared in The Atlantic, New York Times, The Believer, McSweeney's, BOMB, The New Republic, NPR, Village Voice, Conjunctions, and more.

Elisa Gonzalez is a poet, essayist, and fiction writer. Her debut poetry collection, Grand Tour, was named one of the best books of 2023 by The New Yorker. A former Fulbright scholar, she has received a Rona Jaffe Foundation Writers' Award, a Whiting Award, a Literature Award from the American Academy of Arts & Letters, the Levis Reading Prize, and was a finalist for the 2025 Kate Tufts Discovery Prize. A novel and nonfiction book are also forthcoming.

Carey Salerno is the author of three books of poetry: Shelter, Tributary, and The Hungriest Stars. Her poems have been published in journals and magazines broadly and have recently appeared in Poetry, The Georgia Review, American Poetry Review, and The Harvard Review. She is the recipient of a 2025 Pushcart Prize and a 2025 Individual Artist Fellowship from the New Jersey State Arts Council. Salerno serves as the executive director and publisher of Alice James Books.

Cameron Awkward-Rich is the author of three collections of poetry, most recently An Optimism (Persea Books, 2025). His writing has been supported by fellowships from Cave Canem, the Lannan Foundation, and the ACLS. Presently, he is an Associate Professor in Women, Gender, Sexuality Studies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

R. A. Villanueva is the author of two award-winning collections of poetry: A Holy Dread (Alice James Books, 2026), and Reliquaria (U. of Nebraska Press, 2014). New work has been featured by the Academy of American Poets and National Public Radio—and his writing appears widely in international publications such as Poetry London and The Poetry Review. His honors include commendations from the Forward Prizes, and fellowships from the Sewanee Writers’ Conference and the Constance Saltonstall Foundation for the Arts. He lives in Brooklyn.

Monica Youn is the author of four poetry collections, most recently FROM FROM (Graywolf Press 2023), which was awarded the Anisfield-Wolf Award and was a New York Times Notable Book and Best Poetry Book of 2023, and a Time, NPR, Publishers Weekly, Library Journal, and Electric Literature Best Book of 2023. Her books have twice been finalists for the National Book Award, as well as being finalists for the National Book Critics Circle Award, the PEN Voelcker Prize, and the Kingsley Tufts Award. She has also been awarded the Levinson Prize from the Poetry Foundation, the William Carlos Williams Award of the Poetry Society of America, a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Witter Bytter Fellowship from the Library of Congress, and a Stegner Fellowship. A former constitutional lawyer, she is a professor of English at UC Irvine and is president of the board of Poets House.

Joan Kwon Glass is a diasporic, mixed-race, Korean American poet, author of the poetry collection DAUGHTER OF THREE GONE KINGDOMS (Perugia Press, 2024) which won the Paterson Poetry Prize & was a finalist for the Balcones Poetry Prize. Her book, NIGHT SWIM, won the Diode Book Prize. Joan’s poems are forthcoming or have been featured on NPR, Poetry Daily, Best American Poetry & The Slowdown & in Poetry, Passages North, Poetry Northwest, Korea Quarterly, Split Lip, Prairie Schooner & elsewhere. She has been awarded residencies at Vermont Studio Center & SWWIM & lives in Milford, CT.

Kimiko Hahn has cast a wide net for subject matter over her eleven collections and in The Ghost Forest: new and selected poems, she plays with given forms while creating new ones, and, in doing so, honors past writers. Hahn is the 2023 recipient of the Ruth Lilly Prize for Lifetime Achievement from The Poetry Foundation. She is the current N.U. State Poet (laureate). Hahn teaches in the MFA Program for Creative Writing and Literary Translation at Queens College, City University of New York.

Mosab Abu Toha is a Palestinian poet, short story writer and essayist from Gaza. His first collection of poetry, Things You May Find Hidden in My Ear, was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award for Poetry and won the Palestine Book Award, the American Book Award and the Walcott Poetry Prize. Abu Toha is also the founder of the Edward Said Library in Gaza, which Israel destroyed. His second poetry book, Forest of Noise, was named a NYT Notable Book of the Year and longlisted for the Dylan Thomas Prize. In 2025, Abu Toha won the Pulitzer Prize for Commentary for his Letter from Gaza columns in The New Yorker.

Elin O’Hara Slavick '88 is an artist, photographer, writer, and educator whose work explores history, memory, and the impact of war, particularly nuclear issues. She earned her BA from Sarah Lawrence College and her MFA in Photography from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where she received the top MFA award. She taught at UNC Chapel Hill for 27 years, developing its darkroom and leading courses in conceptual and collaborative practices.

Her work has been exhibited internationally in over 40 solo and 150 group exhibitions, and is held in major collections including the Queens Museum, the Library of Congress, and the Art Institute of Chicago. She is the author of several books, including Bomb After Bomb: A Violent Cartography and After Hiroshima, and is the founder and co-founder of artist collectives addressing nuclear history and collaborative art practices.

Wendy S. Walters is a Creative Capital Awardee in literary nonfiction and the author of a book of prose, Multiply/Divide: On the American Real and Surreal (Sarabande Books, 2015), named a best book of the year by Buzzfeed, Flavorwire, Literary Hub, The Root, Huffington Post, and others. She is also the author of two books of poems, Troy, Michigan (Futurepoem, 2014) and Longer I Wait, More You Love Me. Her work has been published in The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, BOMB, The Yale Review, The Iowa Review, Lapham’s Quarterly, Full Bleed, and Harper's among many others. Her current projects address intersections between writing and design, climate change and its reverberations, class and racial disquietude in the industrial Midwest, and organic forms in the essay. Walters is Associate Professor of Nonfiction in the Writing Program of the School of the Arts at Columbia University.
